Internship Adventures: Westlight 004
It is so easy to get stuck in your head when it comes to a career choice, or with anything really. People say to me all the time that the possibilities are endless and there is so much that I can do in every aspect of my life. And I heard what they were saying, but never really understood it. Whatever you choose to do in life the possibilities really are endless. Who says you have to follow the rules? Okay. Life rant over, but I am learning about all the different types of photography. It’s not just about if you like photography, there is so much more to it then I think people understand going into it. Not only is a creative brain required, but so is an analytical one. And while it is wonderful that so many people are taking photography into their own hands, it takes someone really special to actually understand it. I was speaking with my mentor about when he started in the business and how everything he shot with was film at the time. When he shot a wedding, there was no room for error, no way to check the images to see if your exposure was correct or if the images were even being taken. It was so much more of a process than it is now, and it’s sad in a way because of the attention to detail that it required has been lost but also incredible how photography has grown. Okay. Now I am done. I swear!
This week I was able to learn about different types of photography, different cameras, set ups, lighting, and what to do to start becoming a better photographer. We talked about what a “smart photographer” does and how to succeed in the business that I want to go into. There was a product shoot and fashion portrait session.
